Go Karting
For some great fun as a family, or a group of friends, why not consider an afternoon of Go-Karting?  A few hours of exhilaration and a little bit of friendly competition, available in the nearby Périgord.

Fancy a round of golf?
If you are a golfer, there are a range of courses nearby for you to try, Golf du Genet a very local 9 hole course, Golf de Saint Junien, an 18 hole, par 72 course is just a few miles away.  
You can also consider Preze another 18 hole, 72 par course a short distance away.

Love a market?
For some fantastic shopping stay right here in Piégut-Pluviers on a Wednesday to visit the centuries-old market. Everything from fresh local vegetables, cheese & wines to clothes, plants, and souvenirs.     Many local towns and villages have their own markets each weeks so there is lots to choose from.

Swimming at St Estephe lake
If you fancy some time at the beach try out the swimming lake at St Estephe, there is a sand beach and great kids play areas. You can take the pull ferry across the lake and walk the 1.5miles around it.  There are places to buy food and drink so it will keep you busy all day!

Orador sur Glane
Visiting Orador sur Glane offers you the opportunity of a thought provoking day at the village that has been frozen in time since WW2 as a memorial to the people to lived and died there. Simply fascinating.

The Abbey at Brantôme
Nearby you could visit the beautiful abbey at Brantôme, a really wonderful town with lots of shops and restaurants for a lovely relaxed long lunch by the river Dronne.   Brantôme has a nice mix of medieval and renaissance architecture to admire. 

Visiting  Auberterre Sur Dronne
You could visit the stunning village of Auberterre sur Dronne; full of amazing restaurants, an incredible underground church and beautiful views. At the centre of the village is a lovely square filled with shops, artists workshops and bars and restaurants where you can sit out on a sunny day and savour the atmosphere of the village

Day Trips within an hour or so
For a great day out, you could head out to Angoulême to see the beautiful architecture, enjoy some shopping & embrace the art and culture!  

Cognac has a wide selection of distilleries to tour and taste, (and even bring that special bottle home with you). 

Limoges is filled with porcelain monuments and beautiful buildings to look around.

Staying local
There are plenty of beautiful walks in and around Piégut-Pluviers.  Explore the ruins of the tower, make dens in the wood, or even wander into town for a drink at the one of the bars.  Something for everyone. Nontron is just 20 minutes away and lovely for a stroll around the shops, stopping for a refreshing coffee and checking the knives the town is famous for.

We are spoilt for wonderful restaurants in the area whether you prefer a Michelin starred restaurant (we have two nearby!), some real French food (you can walk to a fabulous restaurant for this from your gite) or one of many great value with great food restaurants.  There is a list of places we recommend in the book in your gite - or just ask!
